javelina leap news

Congratulations to TAPAS member Javelina Leap Vineyard & Winery, from Cornville in Northern Arizona, for winning prestigious awards at the 2013 International Women’s Wine Competition!

Cynthia Snapp, owner and winemaker at Javelina Leap, has brought home the gold from the 2013 International Women’s Wine Competition held in Sonoma California this past month. 36 top professional and international judges in the wine industry came together for a blind tasting of international wines made by women winemakers.

Javelina Leap’s 2012 100% Arizona Merlot won a gold and took Best Of Class. Only 37 wines out of the 900 wines entered in the competition received a Best In Class Award. In addition, the Javelina Leap 100% Arizona 2011 Zinfandel, Javelina Leap 100% Arizona 2012 Tempranillo, and the Javelina Leap 2011 Syrah, all took silver medals, followed by the Javelina Leap 2011 Prospectors Blend taking bronze.

Cynthia’s wines ousted wines from top wineries in Napa, Sonoma, Russian River Valley, Santa Barbara, Paso Robles, New York, British Columbia, France, Argentina, and Italy to name a few.

Cynthia says “I am so passionate about making wine and work very hard at it. I love my wines and the judges did too, that’s thrilling! I’m delighted and honored to say the least that my wines showed so well amongst the wines made by so many outstanding winemakers. A big heartfelt thank you to my husband, mentor founder, owner and director of Javelina Leap, Rod Snapp, whose inspiration and support allowed my inner winemaker to come shining through.”
