We've had a lot of new members from Texas recently, thanks largely to the efforts of TAPAS founding members Jim and Karen Johnson of Alamosa Wine Cellars. Could Tempranillo become the new "Texas Cab"?
As part of the upcoming 2010 Grayson College Enology Outreach Seminar Profiles Series, there will be a Tempranillo Symposium, to be held November 22, 2010 at the Vineyard at Florence, Florence TX. The three featured presenters will be Simon Arina Robles, Bodega Baigorri, Rioja, Spain; Jim Johnson, Owner/winemaker at Alamosa Wine Cellars; and Dan Gatlin, Owner/Winemaker at Inwood Estates Winery. The session will look at the variety from its historic roots to viticulture clones, production yields, and flavor sensory analysis. Marketing and price points will also be discussed. The fee for the event will be $100.
For more information on TAPAS in Texas, see http://vintagetexas.com/blog/?p=2363 , and/or contact Jim and Karen Johnson at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org . Jim is hoping to organize a meeting of TAPAS Texas members in conjunction with the Symposium.
